Overview

We redesigned the Captions video editor from the ground up, with a new system to display the track timeline that allowed users to show/hide complexity by having expanded and collapsed states for each track (we call them "laser lines"). We also redesigned all of our feature submenus and our captions track to show a blended word/phrase timeline. We added a ton of new table stakes editing features and our editor design system helped us move quickly.

I worked closely with iOS engineers throughout the design and implementation process to ensure all the interactions and states for the track timelines were perfect. This collaboration was essential for creating smooth, responsive transitions between expanded and collapsed states, and for fine-tuning the gesture interactions that make the laser lines feel intuitive and natural.
